Inspired by the first visit of a reigning monarch to Australia in 1954, this wine is the embodiment of the synergy achieved by combining the noble grape varietal Semillon and the Hunter Valley. Renowned for its unique ability to be enjoyed when fresh and admired when allowed to age gracefully. Mount Pleasant celebrates both styles through 'Elizabeth'. Crisp, lively and refreshing.

About this Wine

Hunter Valley, NSW

Adrian Sparks

Bright green hue

Classic citrus characters of lime & lemongrass predominate with wonderful intensity and purity.

Growing Conditions

An excellent year in the Hunter Valley. Dry throughout the growing season, the vineyards burst early but a cool spring slowed the growth periods, meaning ripening occurred 2-3 weeks later than usual. December saw warm weather with average rainfall, allowing for healthy and clean canopies giving excellent ripening conditions. The rain eased over January and February, which meant ripening was even and let the team have the ability to pick fruit at its optimum ripeness.

An elegant yet intense palate of pure Semillon fruit providing great line & length.

A combination of machine and hand harvesting in the early morning. Transported, destemmed to press where only 500 litres per tonne of the finest free run was taken. Settled, racked and inoculated for a clean & cold fermentation which took 14 days. Chilled and fined before bottling.

Both textural and watery but with a lengthy feel to it; it's a perfumed, slatey release in need of time. Softness of the acidity is a key feature here; so too is elegance.
