2018 1880 Vines Old Hill Shiraz
Planted in 1880 by Charles King, the 'Old Hill' or 'O.H' vineyard has produced some of the Hunter Valley's greatest red wines. Legendary winemaker Maurice O'Shea first made wine from the 'Old Hill' in the 1920's & 1930's. These early wines are still regarded as some of the greatest Australian wines of all time.

Wine Front
"Old Hill, it certainly is, yet not over the hill.
It's a wine of almost painful crunch and intensity, but in the mose pleasurable way; it's a fine line, for sure. Red frutis, bramble, earth, violet perfume, maybe even a bit of praline. Cranberry acidity, grip of fine tannin, old vines eeking out minerality, soil to grape, to winery, to you. Feels like a direct transmission. Feels like the essence of a great old vineyard. The length near as long as 140 years. Respect."

The Real Review
"Deep, brooding dried herb aroma, earthy and mysterious with hints of spice and ironstone. Full bodied, concentrated, rich and driving. The wine is not heavy, indeed, it's barely full-bodied and it retains elegance, notwithstanding the substantial sheen of fine-grained tannins. An amazing wine - profound, seemingly with immense potential. Great stuff."
