Since 1921, Mount Pleasant has been crafting superb wines from the Estate, evolving its winemaking and trialling new and exciting wines. In 2016 we introduced this new wine varietal to the Mount Pleasant B-Side range created from new blocks planted on the Estate. A blend using Iberian grape varieties, Tempranillo (from Spain) provides the backbone and Touriga (Portugal) the spice and aromatics. With these new plantings on the Mount Pleasant Estate put down to give the winemaking diversity, this blend delivers amazing structure and drinkability.About this Wine

Ruby red with purple hues.
Dark cherries, plums and spice coupled with exotic notes from the Touriga.
An excellent year in the Hunter Valley. Dry throughout the growing season, the vineyards burst early but a cool spring slowed the growth periods, meaning ripening was around 2-3 weeks later than usual. December saw warm weather with average rainfall allowing for healthy and clean canopies giving excellent ripening conditions. January and February saw significantly lower than average rainfall conditions which meant ripening was even and let the team have the ability to pick fruit at its optimum ripeness.
Elegant, medium-bodied, with a lovely tannin structure. Supple and bright red fruits make this such an easy drinking style of wine.
Hand picked and crushed to tank for a short cold soak. Inoculated for a warm ferment of around 10 days with pumping over three times daily. Pressed at dryness to tank for malolactic fermentation before being racked to old puncheons. Blending occurred in October after 6 months maturation in wood.
