2018 1921 Vines Old Paddock Shiraz
Nearing their centenary, these vines were planted by Maurice O'Shea in 1921 upon taking ownership of Mount Pleasant. The deep volcanic loams of this site ensure these original vines continue to produce quality Shiraz fruit, with distinct Hunter Valley character.

The Real Review
"Deep, dark colour and a reserved, reticent but very youthful nose which needs time to build. The wine is intense and direct, focused and powerful in the mouth, not expansive but fine and focused, with lovely line and length. Good tension and firmness, persistence and power, finishing right out. Masses of fine, powdery, drying tannins. Latent and impressive. Needs plenty of time and is a long-term keeper."

Wine Front
"Blackberry, earthy, deep, bit of spice and liquorice, robust tannin, sweetness of bramble fruit, tempered with earth. It's fine expression of a distinguished site, wearing its heart on sleeve, for sure. Sweet charm. Open and beautiful."

2021 Halliday Wine Companion
"High on structure and on fruit. Excellent concentration though it remains medium in weight. Plum and red cherry with hints of deeper blackberry. Earth and spice. A clove-like character. Really fresh, really firm, really good."
