After the near perfect conditions of 2014, the 2015 harvest started with some real challenges.

On December 2, the Shiraz vineyards around the winery suffered a hail storm, resulting in some crop loss. Luckily (or by divine intervention) the Mothervine Pinot block (planted in 1921) was missed by the hail, and was ready to harvest well before the rain could have any impact. Arguably the star red out of 2015 for Mount Pleasant!

The 2015 vintage whites are very respectable, with wonderful purity and length of flavour. These will age beautifully, and with the Pinot, provide the silver lining on a difficult season.

Harvest kicked off just before Australia Day, with Verdelho, Chardonnay, and Pinot. Lovedale Semillon was ready to go following the long weekend, and as luck would have it, the rain took a break allowing us to complete the Semillon pick, with some very smart fruit.

Rosehill Shiraz was last, and true to its pedigree, stood up to the weather well. These wines will shine in the medium bodied spectrum Rosehill is so famous for.

Looking forward to seeing everybody at our Annual O’Shea Launch in October.
